The Scroll Control app allows you to precisely control the speed and direction of auto scrolling. The app works on any Android phone running Android 7.0 or higher. Unlike other auto scrolling apps on the market, the Scroll Control app does NOT require root for any of its features to work.
The app uses a unique Scroll Control Bar that appears at the bottom of the screen when the phone is in portrait orientation. A simple tap on the Scroll Control Bar can scroll one screen up or one screen down. When you long press the left side of the SCB the phone will auto scroll upwards. When you long press the right side of the SCB the phone will auto scroll downwards. Scrolling velocity is proportional to the distance of the finger from the center line of the screen. The further left you touch the faster the phone scrolls upwards. The further right you touch the faster the phone scrolls downward. Tap on the SCB or anywhere on the screen to stop auto scrolling. Though long pressing the SCB allows you to auto scroll upwards fairly quickly, for very lengthy web pages and documents there is an even easier and faster way to jump to the beginning of the page or document – simply swipe from right to left on the SCB. Thus, you can instantly get back to a website’s navigation menu or see your newest emails with a single swipe. The Scroll Control app works with the most popular browsers like Google Chrome and Firefox as well as many other types of apps like Facebook and Twitter.
The Pro version of the app offers tap to scroll up or down one screen and auto scrolling at a number of very wide ranges of scroll speeds according to customer preferences. The user can also swipe to jump to the top of the page and customize the scroll control bar thickness, colors, and transparency to their liking. The full featured Pro version is available as an In-app purchase. There are no ads, thus the app offers a clean and uncluttered user experience.
The free version of the app offers the tap to scroll up or down one screen but only allows auto scrolling at a limited range of scroll speeds when you long press on the SCB. In the free version you cannot swipe to jump to the top of the page. You also cannot customize the speed range, or SCB thickness, colors, and transparency. Note however that even in the free version there are no ads.
The Scroll Control app allows the user to avoid using touch and drag and flings to scroll, thus avoiding accidental clicks from misinterpreted gestures. This limits the need for the back button and you have an unobstructed view of the screen when scrolling. The app helps you avoid accidentally clicking on links with viruses or malware, potentially saving you a lot of time, money, and frustration. Thankfully, also no more accidental opening of emails in your inbox.
The Scroll Control app can be customized for each user in Settings. You can set the thickness of the SCB anywhere from 6 percent of the screen height to 16 percent of the screen height. People with thick fingers or those who want to use their thumb can choose a thicker SCB. Even though the SCB lets you to scroll at a range of different speeds, different users may want a different maximum scroll speed. The user can select 1X up to 7X for the maximum auto scrolling speed. 1X is the slowest range and 7X is the fastest range. The free version of the app is restricted to the 1X range.
Auto scrolling is particularly useful for long scrolling or infinite scrolling in popular apps such as Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, and Tumblr. These apps have no bottom to the content. The more you scroll downward the more content appears. Auto scrolling eliminates the tedious repeated touching and dragging and flinging of the screen.
In your Phone Settings we recommend you set the Touch and hold delay to Medium or Long (i.e. 1.0 or 1.5 seconds) to avoid accidental long presses.
The app also works on tablets running Android 7.0 or higher.
